Rolling Components

Business management solutions will enable supplier to offer electronic ordering and gain efficient control of warehouse inventory

Rolling Components, one of the UK's largest distributors of brand-new surcharge-free automotive parts, has invested in MAM's Autopart and Warehouse Management Software (WMS) to support its ecommerce offer.

Established in 1979, Rolling Components covers an extensive range of passenger car and light commercial vehicle applications, as well as agricultural references, all manufactured to OE quality standards. The company's Basildon warehouse spans 65,000 square feet and employs 25 members of staff.

Rolling Components has been an MAM customer for a number of years, as its Rollco branded products are listed on Autocat, MAM's online vehicle parts catalogue. The data is maintained using Automate Online, a data management application that enables suppliers to directly publish to Autocat.

Utkarsh Aggarwal, director of Rolling Components, explained that the company decided to enlist other MAM products due to their compatibility with TecCom, a B2B platform for the international automotive market. The service enables real-time electronic trading between parts suppliers and their customers.

Using WMS will enable the company to improve its stock flow and inventory management. There are currently 25 people working in the warehouse, so access to this software will help them gain a clear picture of stock movements at all times.

Rolling Components receives most of its orders via phone, SMS and email, so this latest investment will open up greater opportunities for electronic sales.

"We work closely with GROUPAUTO, whose members were increasingly demanding TecCom compatibility from our system. This wasn't something our previous provider could offer, which is when we started to look for alternatives" Utkarsh explained.

"We considered a number of other providers, but MAM stood out because we could benefit from TecCom straight away. This functionality is crucial to the future of our business, so we needed it to be installed as soon as possible."

Utkarsh noted that the company is eager to get started with its new systems, which are due to be installed in the coming weeks.

Mark Kendall, sales director at MAM Software, commented: "Suppliers and motor factors are increasingly recognising the value of investing in ecommerce solutions.

"The TecCom compatibility of our software makes it a valuable proposition for any business in the sector, and we look forward to seeing how these new systems benefit Rolling Components over the coming months."

Autopart is business management software designed specifically for the automotive market. It is capable of seamlessly integrating sales, stock management, accounting and reporting processes in one easy-to-use package. The cloud-based solution lowers upfront costs and eliminates the need for updates and maintenance.

MAM's WMS is fully integrated with Autopart to optimise the flow of goods through a warehouse. Data input is achieved via a handheld PDA and scanner, which allows for central software to be continuously updated through a wireless connection.
